From the origins of Matador Pizza and Steakhouse 45 years ago until today, we have striven to keep our recipes as fresh as possible using local ingredients. Everything is sourced in Alberta, from the cheese, pepperoni, and salami used in creating our pizzas to the chicken, beef, or pork used in our lunch and dinner dishes. Using these items from close to home, we hope you can taste our local suppliers’ quality.
Our success was achieved with the help of our fine suppliers. To show our gratitude, we are highlighting those who have joined us on our journey. This month we would like to feature Capital Fine Meats.
Capital Fine Meats is a locally owned, family-run meat processing business located in Edmonton, Alberta. In combination with their 3rd and 4th generations of family, Capital employs over 100 skilled workers that share their values of integrity, quality, fairness, and pride in all that they do.
Capital Fine Meats has been supplying quality meat products to Canadians since 1929, striving for excellence in everything they do. Closer to home, they have been curing our salami and pepperoni for over 45 years.
Mitigating risks to food safety is their highest priority. The health and safety of Canadians is the driving force behind the design and development of the food safety programs they follow. They are a federally registered facility, following HACCP food safety programs, and are SQF certified.
To ensure maximum quality and consistency, they make small batches and keep a close eye on every process their products go through, maintaining traditional methods and recipes passed down through generations of family, never cutting corners, and always striving for perfection.
Capital Fine Meats appreciates the elders who built our communities, so they donate 100% of the profits from the MARIANO’S COOKING MERCHANDISE line to the Capital Care Foundation to help enrich the lives of senior citizens in their community. The Capital Care Foundation is a registered charity that raises funds to purchase equipment, renovate facilities, provide educational opportunities for staff and add to the quality of life of residents who live in Capital Care centres, taking over where government funding ends.
Through tradition and passion, they built a trustworthy brand that strives for excellence in its safety, consistency, quality, and flavour for everyone to enjoy. That’s the Capital Promise.” This fits well with Matador’s commitment to high-quality ingredients, excellent service, and provision of a family atmosphere in a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
